Etymology

Henwick Fm, Henewyk '1284Ass , 1327SR , Henwick 1408, 1601, 1610RecOffCat . Probably identical with Henwick Wo 132, 'dairy farm of the monks', from hīwan (gen.pl. hīgna ) and wīc . Thatcham was one of the original endowments of Reading Abbey.
