Etymology

Fobney Meadow, cf. Vobeneye n.d. (14th) ReadingC (3 ), Vobney 14thReadingC , 1520 ArchJ 5, Vobney Mede , Vobney Bridge Ed 6LRMB .'Fobba's island', v. (ī)eg. The meadow lies between the main stream and a branch of the Kennet. For the pers.n. which is found in a number of p.ns., v. Ess 156, W 214.
