Etymology

Snow Hill, Snoudon 1321 Cl, Snowedon 1365 ib, Snowedon 'Ed 3RentSur , Snowdon Hill 1607Norden , Snow Hill 1761 Rocque. 'Snow hill', v. snāw , dūn , identical with Snowdon, Caernarvonshire (NCPNW 238). Hill was later added and subsequently the original second el. dūn was dropped. Note also Snowdon (D 294, 311) and Snowden (YW 5, 61).
