Hyde Fm, Hyde 1301 BM, la Hyde 1306 Ipm (p), La Hyde 1399 BM, cf. þe Hyde Lond , Hyde Hamme , þe Hyde Meede , þe Hyde Hegge 1382–3RentSur , v. hīd . According to VCH iv, 282, this was the home of a family named Hyde , who derived their surname originally from the ownership of a hide of land in the manor of Circourt, and pur- chased land at a later date in the north of the parish, so that the manor of Hyde was said in 1397 to be at North Denchworth.
