Etymology

Warnham Lane, possibly Werdham 1241, 1248Ass , Werdeham 1248 (1329) Dugdale, n.d. AD 1(p), Werdenham 1252–5FF , probably '*Wearda 's hamm'. This name and Green Hams Lane in Hampstead Norris, which continues the lane, may contain hamm in the sense 'woodland enclosure', cf. Pt 1273.
