Weston Fm

Early-attested site in the Parish of Buscot

Etymology

Weston Fm, 1828 OS, cf. Westwyke 1260–1FF , 1361 AD, 1362 Black Prince, Westonwike 1525 Finchampstead, Weston 1761 Rocque. It is impossible to be certain whether these forms refer to one or two places. A deed of 1381 (Throckmorton ) refers to Borfordescote , Weston ' and Westwyk , which suggests that there was a 'west tūn' and a 'west wīc'. Cf. Suthwyk 'infra 356.
