'Cress stream', a common name, v. cærse , w(i)ella and cf. 8. Land here belonged to the family of Sancto Phileberto in 1208 (VCH III, 100); cf. manerium de Sancto Fileberto in Cressewelle 1401–2 FA, Filberts 1675Windsor , Manor of Philberds alias Cresswells 1674PubLib .
