Etymology

Rushall Copse, Rushall Manor Fm, Russehall '1240–1FF (p), Rushalls Fm and Wood 1830 OS, 1846 Snare. The first el. is risc 'rush'. The early form suggests that the second is h(e)all 'hall', but this may be a corruption of earlier -hale , from h(e)alh 'nook', in which case the name would be identical with Rushall St. The farm lies in a shallow recess in a hill.
