Etymology

Caldecott Fm, Caldecott Ho, Caldecott Bridge, Caldecott Gardens. A manor in the adjacent parish of Sutton Wick (for which v. VCH iv, 375) is Caldecote extra Abbindon '1261–6FF , Caldecote 1291 Pat, 1297–8 Ipm, a. 1377 ObAcc, 1412, 1428 FA. The name means 'cold cottage(s)', from OE  c(e)ald and cot(e), v. DEPN for other examples.

Manor Housein Shippon is Caldecotes in Shepyn '1466–7, Colcote in Shepyn '1469–70, Colcote in Shipen '1478–9, all ObAcc, Calcott 's Place c. 1650VCH iv, 416, and may be named from a family from Caldecott.
