Etymology

'Valley of Wil(l)a.' Willa is a well-established OE  name and the existence of an alternative form Wila is made probable by the patronymic Wilinc . Cf. Willington infra 99. v. denu . The -ing forms show the common vulgarism heard in [kitʃiŋ] for kitchen .
