Etymology

The interpretation is uncertain owing to the paucity of forms.The name would seem to be a compound of wic (the reference perhaps being to the dairy-farm of the manor, cf. Aldwik in Little Staughton (FF 1206)) and weg ,- the whole name meaning 'road to the dairy-farm.'
