Historical Forms

  • Galisho 1276 Ass

Etymology

The only suggestion that can be offered is that from the OE  adj. gāl , 'wanton,' a nickname was formed and that Galisho is 'Gal's hoh' with shortening of the vowel. Cf. Galsworthy (D).
