, 1849TA . Bower Yard and Hodgebower are on either side of R . Severn , the former in Benthall parish . VCH XI42 says that Bower weir , on the Benthall bank , was destroyed and rebuilt in the 16th cent. Cf . The Bowre upon the Severn Banks 1544 SAS 1/VI , Le Bower 1550RentSur presumably a building of an unusual type .
