Etymology

'Horse or stud enclosure,' v. stott , stod , falod . The hundred is now merged in that of Swanborough infra 317. The meeting-place was at Foxley Corner on Lydeway infra 316–7. It may have been so called from some ancient enclosure here, v. stodfald and cf. IPN 150–2.
