Etymology

'God (d )a 's clearing,' v. leah . The site is unknown. There was a field called Godley Hall in the TA for Chobham. This was in the north-west corner of the parish near Broomhall. According to Aubrey (iii, 174) the Hundred Court was then held at Hardwick in Chertsey.
