Etymology

. is Lodge 1824 O . It is sited at the crossing of the Melton Mowbray - Oakham railway line and the Whissendine - Teigh road , but perhaps more importantly , also at the point where the parish boundary is crossed by this road . The name may have alluded earlier to a gate in the parish boundary fence rather than to a later railway - crossing gate .
