Etymology
'Stream frequented by herons,' v. corn , w(i)elle. A Craneswell furlong appears in the Tithe Award for the neighbouring parish of Kingham. Stephen de Pontsold and his wife granted the church to Eynsham 1151–73 Eynsh. Cf. Cornbury, supra .
