Etymology

The element Blīð - is found in two OE  names—Blīðhere , Blīðweald , though the simple name Bliðe is not on record. In OGer  we have Blida , Blidilo , Blidin (a ), Bliding , and doubtless the name was found in OE itself, hence 'Bliðe 's enclosure,' v. worþ .
