Etymology

named from Hundred Barrow ('the barrow of the hundred', v. hundred , beorg ) in Bere Regis par. supra which was the meeting place of the old hundred of Bere . It is called 'half-hundred' (dimidium hundredum ) in 1280 because it was taken out of this old DB hundred, v. Bere Regis hundred supra .
