, now the name of a stretch of the Do - Wiltshire county bdy for some 2 – 3 miles ( on 1 ″ it is marked 2 miles further W than on 6 ″ ) , thus suggesting that the second el . might be ModE dial . rack ' a narrow path, a boundary ' ( v. PN W 445 ) , cf. Shire way 17CecilMap ; however it may take its name from Shire oke 1618Map ( a copse just on the Wiltshire side of the bdy ) , as suggested in PN W 205 , from scīr 1 and āc ' oak-tree ' .
