Etymology

, cf . 'church of Ibrigton '1423 Pat , Church Cl 1839TA ; according to Hutch 3 4 361 , near to the church there is ' a spring called St Eustachius 's well , to which saint the Church was perhaps dedicated . It is vulgarly called Stachy 's well , or ' the water-pound ' ; it might also be noted that a Eustace ( Latin Eustachius ) was elected abbot of Milton in 1198(VCHDo 262) .
