Etymology

This is probably a compound of OE  trendel , 'circle,' and hoh, as suggested by Blomé (26). Trentishoe Down is a circular hill and from it a high spur of land projects north-eastwards towards Trentishoe church. Hence, 'spur of (or by) the circular hill.'
