Etymology

Probably 'Brada's homestead' rather than OE  brādan ham (dat.) 'broad homestead.' For Brada v. Redin 73. The VE form suggests the possibility that the suffix may be hamm rather than ham but is unconfirmed by definite early evidence and if it is a hamm it is not one on a river.
