Etymology

The first element is an OE  pers. name Bledda , not actually found but a regular pet-form for an OE  name in Blǣd -, 'Bledda 's hill or barrow' v. hlaw . The settlement must have taken its name from the hill above it, or possibly from the tumulus by Bledlow Cross (Harman).
