Etymology

Ingelburne Manor. This was originally the name of the little stream which rises near Burntheath. It is referred to as (ad ) aquam que Ingelbourne appellatur 956 (14th) BCS 922, Yngelburne 13th RegMalm, Ingelborne c. 1300Malm , aqua vocata Ingelborne 1341Cor . The material is insufficient for any satisfactory suggestion as to its interpretation. The earliest form is really a ME and not an OE one.
