Medbourne is medeburne 940 (14th) BCS 754, medebourne 955 (15th) ib. 904, Medeburne 1249Ass , 1251 Cl, 1254 FF, Medborne 1268Ass , Medebourne juxta Ludynton 1345Ass , Medebourne Doynel 1393 Cl. 'Meadow stream,' v. burna . Cf. Medbourne (Lei). No association with a Doynel family is known; one Peter Doynel held the manor of Huish (infra 319) in 1428 (FA).
