'Farmstead on the slope', v. helde , tūn , cf. Hilton (ii, 103supra ), from which it is distinguished as -Morvill , from the family of de Moreville (c . 1230Lowth AS 1), and Flechan (later Flecket ), which would appear also to be the name of some early unidentified owner; the origin of the name Flechan is also obscure.
