Etymology

Flanderwath (lost), Flanderwath 1251Ass (p), 1289 AD iii, 1332 Lindsay (p), Flandirwath , Flandreworthe 1284 ib iv. This may in fact be Wath upon Dearne, since in the thirteenth century Wath was held by a family called Flandr (ensis ) (1234 Ebor) and in 1285 (KI) by William le Flemyng . This same family probably gave its name to Flanderwell 180infra .
