Stoket Lane, (Holde )stawegate 1345 YD xiii, 74; as Stoket Lane goes down to Ulley Brook, and after crossing it becomes Stow Bridge Lane in Whiston 169infra , the name may well be 'stone road' or an elliptical 'road to the stone (bridge)', with Stawe - (for stān) taken over from Stow Bridge. v. gata .
