The Haw, Hawbank, Haw Beck & Haw Park, Hou 1257 Ch, 1287BltComp 8, How 1290 Whit 377, 1293 QW, Hawhouse 1566 WillY, Hawpark 1684 PRSk, Hawfeild 1692Skp 25, Hawbancke 1680 ib, Haw Beck 1858 O.S., the Hawe 1609 Whit 319, the Haugh 1628 PRSk, Haugh Park 1675 Og. The earlier spellings Hou (v. haugr 'hill, mound') may not be identical with the later Haw -, Haugh which appear to be from or have been influenced by OE  haga 'enclosure'; but the Haw itself is a lofty peak. v. banke , park .
