Etymology

'Ceadel 's spring,' v. funta . Cf. Tolleshunt (PN Ess 306) and Introd. xxvii. For such a pers. name cf. Chadlington (O), DB Chedelintone , and the weak form Ceadela found in Chaddleworth (Berks), BCS 1055Ceadelanwyrð . Cf. further Förster in Liebermann Festschrift 180 ff.
