Etymology
Rotton Park is parc , de Rotton juxta B 'ham 1307Ass , Rotton Park 1425Survey , Rotenparke 1436 Cl. One John de Rotton is mentioned in the 1275 SR for Worcestershire. He may have come from this place. The forms are late but it is possible that this may be from OE rōt , 'cheerful,' and tun, 'farm,' Cf. Rottingdean (PN Sx 311) and Rooting (PN K 395).
