Etymology

Wenny Fm and Severals are Wenney (e )1240 Ramset freq to 1510MinAcct , Wenheye 1251ElyCouch , Wendy c. 1555Cole xxxvii, Wenny Severals c. 1825 O.S. Possibly from OE  wenn and ēg , hence 'wen island.' Cf. Wanstead (PN Ess. 109). For Severals , v. infra 354.
