Etymology

Bradness Cottage and Wood (6″) was probably the home of William de Bradenye (1279Ass ) or Bradynheye (1288Ass ) or Bradeny (1296 SR). The place is called Bradnies in 1649 (Par Reg). This is probably from brad and eg , the land lying low and being liable to flood.
