Etymology

Bandonhill is Bandon (e )1229 FF, 1241, 1255Ass , 1315 Pat, 1373 Merton, Bandon (e ) juxta Bedynton 1325Ass , Bendon 1229 FF.Probably 'bean hill,' v. dun . Cf. Banstead infra 68, only a few miles away. If, however, the form Bamdon (1208 FineR) belongs here, the first element may be OE  beam, 'tree,' with early assimilation of md to nd .
