Etymology

Mogador is Maggothaw 1618 LBa. Cf. also Magottlondes 1507, Magothill 1598 LBa. The names are to be associated with the family of Richard Magot found in the parish in 1430 (LBa).The modern form is an absurd corruption, due to association with the place-name in Morocco.
