Etymology

Fiveoak Copse (6″) is Wyfhokes 1298 Eynsh, Wysok '1300 Wych, Fyve Oakes Coppice , Five Oaks 1608–9Survey , Five Oake alias Wyseoke 1641 Wych. 'Five oaks,' v. āc . No stress should be laid on forms with initial W - and medial -s -, which are probably due to misreading of Vyf -, with the voicing of initial f - to v -.
