Etymology

For etymology v. Marsh Baldon supra . Cf. (into ) Bealdanhema gemære 1054 (c. 1200) KCD 800, 'boundary of the people of Baldon' (v. hǣme , (ge)mǣre), which appears as Baldinhamere c. 1200 S, Baldenhamemere c. 1240 S.

Toot is ME  tōte , 'look-out hill.' Sancti Laurencii from the church dedication. Lowchers from the family of Robert Lowches , mentioned in this connection 1428 FA.
