Etymology
Leesrest Fm. Cf. E. K. Chambers, Sir Henry Lee , p. 209: “The court spent most of September at Woodstock and from here the King and Queen…went to visit Lee at a lodge three miles away, which was probably Lee's Rest.” The reference is to the year 1603. For Sir Henry Lee v. 416. Lees Rest House , Light and Wood are mentioned c. 1840TA , and the wood appears also 1822 O.S. For light v. 346.For rest in this sense cf. NED sb 5.
