Etymology
The Cleeves (6″). Cf. Clyve 1387–8 AD, la Clyue t. Hy 6Valor , the Cleves 1770EnclA . This is a strip of land on the bank of a small stream, and the name is another example of the word clif used of land by the side of a river.
