Etymology

Sutton Passeys (lost) is Sutone 1086 DB, Sutton '1198 Fees, Sutton Passeys c. 1250 Wollaton, 1266FF , 1280Ass , (Passays ) 1323 Pat, Suttonpassays 1340FF , Sutton Passes c. 1480 Wollaton, 1668Recov . 'South farm,' v. suþ , tun . The site was in the present Wollaton Park, south-east of Wollaton village. Robert le Passeis , a tenant in serjeanty, was taking the profits of 3 carucates here in 1198 (Fees). The whole village was held by his descendants in the 13th century.
