Etymology

Professor Bruce Dickins and Professor Ekwall agree in taking this to mean 'wheat-hill,' with hesitation in the first element between OScand  hveiti and OE  hwǣte , 'wheat.' v. beorg . For such a compound Professor Ekwall notes the parallel of Whatborough (Lei).
