Etymology

Berryfields is Beryfeld 1540 LP, and takes its name from the manor of Brandestonbury 1295 AD iii, Braundeston Bery 1305 Ipm, Brauncestonebury 1311 Ipm, Brawndestonbury 1384 Cl, v. burh , used here in its manorial sense. The remains of the manorial house can still be traced (Bridges i, 26).
