Etymology

This may be identical with Olney infra 44 or it may be 'Ona 's clearing or wood,' v. leah . For initial w , cf. the pronunciation of the common word one . This place was formerly a hamlet, but is now represented by two farms Onley Fields and Onley Grounds, v. infra 16, 17.
