Etymology
Probably 'clearing caused by burning' v. topt . The first element is identical with that of Sundridge (K), OE sænget hryg BCS 506, Syntley (PN Wo 36) and St Chloe (Gl), being a noun-derivative of OE sengan 'to burn.'
