Etymology

Crepings or Lound Hall (lost), Loundehalle 1348 Ipm, manerium de Lound t. R2 (l. 14) Lothian MSS , (terr ' manerij de ) Loundhalle 1525Ct Saxthorpe , v. lundr 'small wood, grove' and hall , a manor created when Aymer de Valentia, Earl of Pembroke, gave a considerable part of his manor called Mickil Hall to Simon de Creping , who was lord of it in 1315. It was sold to the Greys, owners of Mikel Hall , in the 15th cent. (v. Blomefield VI498).
