Etymology

Tottenham High Cross is le Hiecros 1409 RobinsonT, Hiecrosgrene 1467 ib., Totenham Hyghcrosse 1551 FF. This was not one of the 'Queen Eleanor' crosses (cf. Charing Cross infra 167) but an ordinary wayside cross, the history of which is not known.
