Etymology

Kings End is so named in 1550 (CtRequests ). It was then held by King's College, Cambridge. This may, however, be only a coincidence, since the surname (le ) Kyng is found in the parish as far back as 1296 (Select Pleas) and again as Kyng in 1436 (MinAcct ). Cf. Kinges wythys shottes 1565Kings .
