Etymology

Sudbury is Suthbery 1282MxRec , Sudbery , Sudbur '1294Ass , La Suzberi 1299 AD iv, Sudbury 1382 Cl, Southbery 1398 IpmR, Sodbury 1424 Pat, Sutbury 1474 ECP. 'South manor,' v. burh (manorial) and Introd. xvi. It lies to the south-east of Harrow.In early times there is mention of a Norburyhyll 1513 Harrow- Rec, Northburie feild 1581 ib., perhaps deriving from the manor house of Harrow itself.
