Etymology

Mownholme 1839(Mowenholme 15951, y e mavre called Mowen holme 15952, a Maure called Mowen holme c.1638, Mown Holmes 17121; this is presumably'the mown raised landin marsh', v. holmr and as two of the references show it was a saltern orsalt-hill and is marked as such on 15951)
